The program helps managers enhance their problem-solving and switch-blade skills, while developing a greater
contempt towards their employees.   Managers experience social problems - poverty, homelessness, illiteracy,
and having to ride the city bus.  They get heavily involved in programs helping fight drug dependency and
alcoholism - two areas of addiction that, fortunately, only affect the poor.  Typical activities include serving meals
to the Undead, building houses for homeless Androids, and helping rid an inner city community of rap music.

Managers become exposed to situations they would rarely encounter in the corporate United Imperial States of
Earth, or learn about in online chat rooms - issues their employees might experience in their day-to-day lives
because they were prevented from a good education thanks, in part, to the U.I.S.E.'s efforts to build a class
division that only supports the elite.

Managers continue to receive their salary while on assignment so they don't actually have to experience what it's
like to be poor or destitute.

DIPS Labor and Learn Program
Internship Delving into Outreach Teamwork
Feeding the Undead, tuning up Androids, and sleeping in 200 thread count sheets are not the activities you
would typically find in a training course for senior level managers - except at DIPS.
Founded in 2068, the Internship Delving Into
Outreach Teamwork
(I.D.I.O.T.) is an intense
management training course designed to create
a soul searching environment for senior level
executives as they become immersed into a
Community of workers that are already beaten
down by the system.  While in the program,
managers leave their jobs and families to spend
a month living and working within the working
class, "slumming it," with only the clothes on
their backs, and a case of malt liquor.
Robert Pooff, an intern from the 2098 program,
put the experience into his own worlds:  The
internship "made me a better person.  I've never
been exposed to anything like it in my life.  In
fact, I didn't even know they had poor people.
Now I've not only learned some really catchy
jargon to use with the 'home boys' in my
department, but I also know which areas never
to drive through at night in my Mercedes."
